I love Saturday Morning's

I have always cherished Saturday mornings.

When the kids were little, they could sleep in then get up and watch cartoons in their PJ's while I made a big breakfast. Now that I am an empty nester, you would think that I would sleep in, get up read the paper in my PJ's and have a leisurely breakfast. NOPE, for some reason my internal clock starts ringing, or the cat's start meowing, and I am up at the crack of dawn.  This morning was no exception!

I woke up at 5:30 and knew that was the end of sleep for me. I did not want to bother Hubby so like a bull in a china cabinet as quietly as I could, I  stumbled through the bedroom knocking into the bathroom door tiptoed out of the bedroom with a cat in each arm.  I had to take the fur babies or they would start their morning parade, marching up and down the bed, walking on Hubby's  head, chest, legs and  then sticking their cute faces right in front his, nose to nose,  meowing "GET UP I WANT TO EAT"!

That is the way my morning started. I fed the cat's, watched a TV program I had recorded, checked my emails and waited for Hubby to wake up for breakfast.

How was your morning? Do you sleep in or are you an early riser? Do you hop out of bed with a big smile or are you a little grumpy before that first cup of coffee or tea?  Do you get up and get ready for the day or lounge around in your PJ's until the afternoon?

Today's Run!

This week starts the training plan for my Marathon, the time of accountability! I will keep a log of each training day and hopefully the progress of improvement as the months pass. Here I come Chicago!

Thursday already!

Thursday mornings I attend LifeLight Bible Study then run errands before I go home. This morning when I left the house it was cold and windy. After class I stopped to buy the cats some food and toys,  by the time I arrived back home it was 36 degrees and sunny.  For the  rest of the day, I planned on cleaning the house and maybe take a nap. Then Erin called:

E: What are you going to do for the rest of the day?
Me: Oh I don't know, probably clean.
E:  It's nice outside you should take a run.
Me: Yes, it's sunny, but it's still a little chilly.
E: Yes, It is chilly but the sun is shinning. Once you get going , you will warm up.
Me: Yeah..I guess I should (but thinking * I really need to clean*).

After we talked for a few more minutes, about our weekend plans, we said our goodbyes.

I played with the cats for a while then dragged the vacuum out to start cleaning.

This is when the guilt started creeping in my head:

*You really should go on a run, if not you will regret it later*.

Hubby always says; Catholics invented Guilt but Lutheran's perfected it.  I am the proof of that!

I tried to ignore it and started straightening up the kitchen:

*YOU REALLY NEED TO GO ON A RUN*

I put a load of clothes in the washer:

*YOU NEED TO GO ON A RUN*

*OK, OK*

I am back from my run,  still have time to clean and I feel great!

I hope you have a great day,

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Happy President's Day!

I have the day off, but only because I have every Monday off!  When I woke up this morning it was 18 degrees ( I know some of you have much colder weather but remember I am a Desert Rat) and I could not face the thought of going out for a run. So what did I do..two cups of coffee and a cinnamon roll that I made last night!  Yummy!
At nine, Hubby was putting his shoes on and said he was going to East Lake for a walk! OK, now I had to go on a run...no excuses. I bundled up, but not enough, because I froze my @#$ off!

Last Saturday, I watched another Jeff Galloway video and am reading one of his books.  I am trying his Marathon plan and his philosophy is to slow down during the training runs. I put pencil to paper and  to follow his plan I should run about 17 min miles for training..HA HA I think I could crawl faster than that! I will not follow the plan completely but will try to slow down and put in the minute walk breaks.

The running felt great but I noticed my HR was climbing and I think it was because I was so cold. Maybe the cinnamon roll and two cups of coffee did not help!
Anyway, my leg felt good while running but I still have some discomfort when I walk. I wonder if I twisted something on the treadmill.

Not much to tell

I just wanted to write a quick note and give this blog a little love. I went to the gym Saturday morning and again after work tonight. I used the treadmill both times and did a much better job Saturday.
First and foremost, I can not stand the treadmill and I know why so many people call it the dreadmill! It is complete torture but because the trail was still icy Saturday and I needed to do something today, off to the gym I went.
Saturday I was able to do three miles before my head started spinning and I wanted to shoot myself from boredom. Tonight not so good, I only made it 2 miles. I guess the only way I can look at it is..a short workout is better than nothing.
So that is it friends..
