Saturday Run

Today, I ran 5.2 miles today with a pace of 11:48. I am happy with this because at the end of the run, I knew I could have gone further. That is the best feeling, to know you could go further but need to stop to continue a plan.  I hope to increase my mileage by 10% each week. Unfortunately, when the snow starts to fly, I will have to take the training to the gym and hit the treadmill.

Oh, how I despise the treadmill. I would rather run 10 miles outside than run 3 boring miles on a treadmill!  I have tried watching the TV, listening to my toon's, watching other people but nothing helps. I continue to look at the timer just praying it will go faster. The more I watch the timer, the more stressed I get and the more I feel my muscles tighten! I can not read a book because I get motion sickness from that but maybe I could listen to a book. I wonder if there are books to download to an ipod?

  1. Wow that is amazing. I have never gotten past 2.5 miles. I'm hoping to start running next week once the time changes and it will be lighter in the morning. Great Job!

  2. Hey Shawn- thanks for visiting my blog.

When I quit smoking, I could barely make it around the block on my bike...granted it's a country block around 4- 41/2 miles.

The more I rode, the further I could go.

There was a story in one of our local papers about a fellow who could barely get around the block 20 years ago...now he's going cross country 4200 miles for the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association.

    Inspirational for sure!

  3. I hate the treadmill as well. Sooo boring. I find that I am way more tired after running just a mile on it than I would be after running 3 or 4 outside.

  5. Now this is an interesting blog!! Interestingly enough The Marathon Run - I mean the one that follows the original path the soldier took from Marathon to Athens was run just yesterday! It was a beautiful day and loads of people participated.
I'm following along because... I really admire what you are doing! I'm afraid I get a stitch in my side after the first turn around the track! Always have... so I walk instead! Please visit me at my history blog. I see you like Christmas so I think you might enjoy it!
    Blessings!
    Ann
