Monday Morning

All Runs are Good: Some are Just Better Than Others!

Today I felt like I had weights in my shoes but by the end of three miles I was so excited because I thought I had cut time from my Saturday Run. Boy, was I wrong! Not only did I not improve but I was much slower.

Since I ran 5.6 miles on Saturday, today would be a short 3.25 miles. As soon as I got home, I sat at the computer and put my time into the DailyMile calculator.  I completed the 3 miles in 35.05, which I thought was faster than I have been doing..WRONG..that came out to 11:40..GRRRRRRR! When I added the time for the last .25 mile it remained the same..Now where did I get the idea that I had run faster?

I was pretty down but Hubby gave me a long pep talk ending with..If your time was faster would it make a difference in the Stock Market????   If it would, I guarantee I would somehow run faster!!!

  1. That Daily Mile sure keeps us honest! Glad you could get the miles done, no matter what the time!

  2. Thank goodness for hubby's pep talks, right?? :) I need those often when I have a "good but not as good as another" run. :) Way to get out there and run! Hope your next one is better!

  3. Thanks for visiting my blog and your kind words. You are inspiring me to get my trainers on! I remember when I used to go to the gym, some days I felt as if I could do anything and it was so easy, other days I felt exactly as you described above and I wondered why I bothered.

  5. Shawn,

Are you running tempo runs, long runs, and doing speedwork? I'm wondering, because a long run should be about 1 - 2 minutes slower per mile than your tempo runs, according to J. Galloway. I can't tell if you're running all of your runs the same pace??
